Just a quick post to highlight another game we did – this time a 15mm fantasy mass battles game using modified Pride of Lions rules from Splintered Light Miniatures.  This builds on a thematic campaign which I’ve run with my boys over the past three years or so – the forces of the Evil Ogre King continue to raid the Borderlands and seek to destroy and burn the  of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves.

On the Ogre King’s side there was an undead army on the left, two orc armies in the middle and right, and a reinforcement of Wildmen with their mighty Mumak in reserve. The forces of the crafty warlord would force a river crossing and assault the rebuilt keep.

On the side of good were a Dwarven contingent on the right- facing the fearsome skeletons of the undead, Humans in the middle occupying the keep, Elves on the left, with an assortment of ents, and the hero of our campaign, Lord Shieldbasher bringing his fearsome RedLords, and BlueLords (heavy knights) up from the board edge to try to desperately reinforce the good armies.

This one was a scrum, and in the end four commanders on each side seemed to have a great time.

In the end, in an incredible coincidence – the RedLords – the mighty cavalry charged two giants on the evil right flank, and in an epic roll killed them both – exactly the same outcome of the last convention game we ran for the campaign two years before!
