Kameraden 10mm WW2 Operational Rules

A short post on this set of local rules from Tony Guido. Tony has run games using these for years at Winter War and my son has played them a couple of times.

I finally Sked Tony about his rules and he shared that they have been in development since the early 80’s. It turned out he had copies so I snapped up a copy. I may do a review later, but wanted to share that their operational scale really appeals on the tabletop.

I have a smaller 10mm Eastern Front collection which I snapped up at a Little Wars flea market. I suspect, knowing I didn’t need it, that seeing Tony’s tables probably caused me to buy them.

      Hi Pete

I saw your post about KAMERADEN from 2019 (this afternoon 3/22/24), never dreaming to find anything !!!

Just now I (3/22/2024) posted a general comment.

Thanks for your interest and leaving a comment for me 🙂.

I hope to have a nice copy of the rules out before too long.

      Take care,

      Tony

    Hi, this is Tony.    3/22/2024

Just for fun I googled to see if there was any information about my game, Kameraden.

    AND THERE WAS!!!

I am truly enthused that someone thought enough to mention my game, and cannot thank him enough.

It is true that these (local) rules have been around for years.

Fritz Bucholtz who owned Napoleon’s Wargame store in Milwaukee for years, but fell victim to computer gaming, asked me to put on a demo game at his store about 25 years ago. The game was well received and he told me to do something more with this, copyright the rules, better physical presentation, and etc.

Well, I bound the rules together for others if they wished to play the game and brought the rules with me to various wargaming conventions.

Since then some changes have been made by listening to fellow gamers.

There have been several “editions”since the 2000 copy above.

I will soon, as in before Christmas 2024,be making what perhaps will be the final edition of the rules and constructed with gamers in mind.

I will try to list the game for sale on several sites (ebay for sure), maybe some dealers, but I will have the rules with me at the 2-3 Cons I attend each year. The price will be very reasonable. This is not meant to be a money making operation but one that gives gamers a chance to play a miniature wargame without ad nauseum minutiae and two tiered rules interpretations.

    Anyway,

KAMERADEN is meant to be an easily understood, fast playing, fun, tactically reasonably realistic of the era, absence of subjective interpretations, challenging and ABOVE ALL PLAYABLE.

Though KAMERADEN is certainly not chess or golf, it is, as I like to say, “easy to play, but hard to play well.” Though KAMERADEN is biased to the Eastern Front of World War II, the rules are easily adaptable to all the war’s fronts.Minitanks, 20,15,12,10mm and 1/285 miniatures all work very well. You do need a hex map (“cigar box” map company or other companies) or a “brick type” pattern (which you can sketch out on a piece of indoor carpeting or on sheets of plywood (like I did years before hex mats were available).

I will enthusiastically be working to finish the next KAMERADEN edition for all mini gamers to enjoy. Look every now and then on ebay. I am always at Winter War in Champaign, and Little Wars in Lisle, Illinois

And again, thank you for reading and your interest in KAMERADEN.

    Tony
