Star Wars Legion demo table

One of the heavily hyped games at Gencon was Star Wars Legion by Fantasy Flight.  A couple of thoughts which others have already taken on,  but I want to share my initial reaction.

First – the figures are nicely done but wholly incompatible with Imperial Assault miniatures – presumably with the commercial goal of selling more sets.  I get it, but still disappointed.  If they are scaling for a larger battle game, why not go with somewhat smaller figures than IA?  These must be 36mm high – good looking but completely stand alone.  Guys – I get it, but some portion of the hobby may tire if respending to get there.

Loved the lava stream effect on this board!!!

Second key point for me – where do they take this?  I’m hoping they think of campaign booklets and or linked scenarios.  Also wonder about terrain for an average gamer – the base set may struggle with how to put together a basic game.

This is an interesting game, I hope it comes together with more than a brief nod to the miniatures fan base.
